LEVANTINE SYMPHONY NO. 1 – CONCERT – 18 & 19/01/2019 – LA SEINE MUSICALE (PARIS)

LEVANTINE Symphony No. 1 is a classical, jazz and modern symphonic piece, inspired by all the world's music.

This album aims to bring together the musical cultures of the Levant and unify them under a single anthem.
The Levant is a little-known but often fantasised part of the world. This musical creation was composed in collaboration with the New Levant Initiative, an American organisation that helps the understanding and the cultural and economic development of the Levant. Ibrahim Maalouf, composer and musical director of this project, brings together his historic band, a symphony orchestra, a children's choir and an ensemble of five microtonal trumpets. The album brings together different inspirations and is intended to be unifying.

Ibrahim Maalouf has set himself the challenge of going beyond the cliché of community unions by seeking musical, rhythmic, melodic and harmonic elements that unite this richly eclectic ensemble. By superimposing various elements, the Levant is thus represented under the same voice and the same melody.
